Synaptic e update-manager

Por que quando eu tento instalar o Synaptic via apt-get não é sugerido
instalar o update-manager???

O update-manager nao aparece nem nos recomendados e nem nos sugeridos????

Eu tive que ir procurar no google para poder instalar o update-manager.

Sim, quando se faz uma instalacao padrao do Debian os dois sao
instalados por padrao, mas, se a instalacao for na unha, como ja dito,
ao instalar o synaptic nao ha nenhuma mencao ao update-manager.

Na minha vã ignorancia eu acho que o primeiro deveria sugerir ou
recomendar o update-manager. Correto?
