Ou.
Resolvi este problema. Faltavam alguns parametros do kernel. dei uma busca
por par e printer no /usr/src/linux.config e deu para sacar o que faltava.
Não lembro agora pois estou no trabalho.
Mas aí deu pau no modem. Olhe que interessante:
