mas eu n'ao consegui fazer a instalacao ainda. Eu vi que o kernel 2.4.23 tem
suporte a SATA, mas esse e o problema, como instalar o Debian sendo que os
discos padroes (2.4.18-bf2.4) nao suporta SATA ?

Não vai instalar usando o kernel padrão. Compile um com o patch libata. Os
discos SATA vão aparecer como discos SCSI (e Serial ATA está na parte de
drivers SCSI das opções de conf. do kernel).
