CD-RW LG 32x10x40

Olá lista,

Acabei de comprar um CD-RW da LG. Recompilei o kernel marcando as
seguinte opções:
<*> Normal PC floppy disk support
         <*> Enhanced IDE/MFM/RLL disk/cdrm/tape/floppy support
---- Please see Documentation/ide.txt for help/info on IDE
drives
[ ] Use old disk-only driver on primary interface
         [*] Include IDE/ATA-2 DISK support
          Include IDE/ATAPI CDROM support
          Include IDE/ATAPI TAPE support
          Include IDE/ATAPI FLOPPY support
          SCSI emulation support

         SCSI Support

 SCSI support
--- SCSI support type (disk, tape, CD-ROM)
          SCSI disk support
          SCSI tape support
          SCSI CD-ROM support
[*] Enable vendor-specific extensions (for SCSI CDROM)
          SCSI generic support
--- Some SCSI devices (e.g. CD jukebox) support multiple LUNs
[*] Probe all LUNs on each SCSI device
[*] Verbose SCSI error reporting (kernel seize +=12K)
         [*] SCSI logging facility

Fui no lilo.conf e coloquei lá
append="hdc=ide-scsi"

rebootei a máquina.
Sempre que tento usar o comando cdrecord -scanbus, acontece o seguinte:

Cdrecord 1.10 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 Jörg Schilling
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you
are root.

Alguem poderia me dar uma ajudinha ...
