Cross-grading 32 -> 64 Bit

Hallo,

so, wenn ich schonmal so tief am Schrauben bin (Parallelthread zu 
Partitions-Alignment), dann will ich auch gleich auf AMD64 wechseln.

Der Kernel war unproblematisch, mit

  dpkg --add-architecture amd64
  apt-get update
  apt-get install linux-image-amd64:amd64

und einem Reboot war die Sache erledigt.

Nun fehlt aber noch das ganze restliche System. 
https://wiki.debian.org/Migrate32To64Bit verweist einerseits auf 
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/03/msg00005.html , 
wo aber wohl nur dpkg umgestellt wird. Und andererseits auf 
http://www.ewan.cc/?q=node/90 , hier aber mit nachdrücklicher Warnung 
"note that the guide on that link also performs dangerous and 
unnecessary steps, like unpacking raw .deb packages because it removes 
essential packages, instead of simply letting dpkg cross-grade them."

Ja, toll. Und wie *macht* man das Cross-grade nun *richtig*??
