Despite the "hd" in the subcommand name, the command works with all
disk images, not only hard disks. For compatibility with earlier
versions of VirtualBox, the "modifyvdi" command is also supported
and mapped internally to the "modifyhd" command.

Was klappt da nicht?
'vboxmanage modifyhd image.vdi --type immutable' funktioniert hier.
Virtualbox meckert nur, wenn das Image an eine VM gebunden ist. Bindung
entfernen (über Manager für virtuelle Medien), immutable setzen, Image
wieder der VM zuweisen - fertig.
