HD meines Laptops verstorben? Smartcfg zeigt Fehler

seit einiger Zeit macht mir meine HD einigen Kummer.
Hin und wieder verabschiedet sich KDE 'einfach so' und kann nicht wieder hergestellt
werden. Nur noch ein 'e2fsch -yvf' kann dann noch Abhilfe schaffen. Es laufen dann
meterweise Fehlermeldungen über die Konsole (von wegen Reparatur hier und da), aber
danach habe ich für einige Wochen wieder Ruhe.
Nur: seit Vorgestern kann der e2fsck die Sache nicht mehr reparieren.
Mit smartcfg habe ich die Platte kontrolliert. Der schnelle Test verläuft fehlerfrei.
Der Gründliche aber findet einen Fehler und bricht bei 50% mit der folgenden Meldung
ab: (ich bin nicht so bekannt mit Smartcfg. Vielleicht kann da jemand mal mitsehen?)

In den Error log steht noch das folgende:

Vreemde foutmelding dat CHS en LBA don't match ... Is dat een kwestie van in de BIOS
een waarde veranderen, of is het een teken dat de HD niet goed meer is?
Verder valt al enige tijd op, dat het systeem vaak crasht tijdens een e2fsck. Soms met
een kernel panic, soms zonder. Ook tijdens test met TestDisk bevroor het systeem en
was slechts een koude herstart mogelijk.
