suche apxs für apache2

Moin,

bei mir ist apache2 installiert:
ii  apache2-mpm-prefork                                  2.2.3-4+etch4                                        
Traditional model for Apache HTTPD 2.1
ii  apache2-utils                                        2.2.3-4+etch4                                        
utility programs for webservers
ii  apache2.2-common                                     2.2.3-4+etch4                                        
Next generation, scalable, extendable web server

Nun wollte ich mod_security installieren. Die Doku spricht davon, dass apache 
2.x vorausgesetzt wird. Und die Doku sagt auch, dass
./configure --with-apxs=/path/to/httpd-2.x.y/bin/apxs

Nun, bei apache2-2-common ist jedoch das apxs nicht dabei. Finden lässt es 
sich nur im apache-dev Paket, und das ist auf Stand 1.3.

Muss ich das Paket selbst compilieren, oder habe ich etwas übersehen?
