Bei mir funktionieren die Smartmontools mit einer WD SATA-Platte am Asus
A8V sehr gut, allerdings unter Debian lenny, also mit der Version
5.38-1 der Smartmontools.
Dann kannst Du Dir auch das "-d ata" sparen, denn das brauchst Du dann
nicht mehr.
