Vielleicht soltlest du wirklich mal die Readme lesen, wie kismet zu
konfigurieren ist...
Hint:
Du musst Kismet sagen, woher die Daten kommen sollen. Bei mir steht z.B.

# source=sourcetype,interface,name[,initialchannel]
# Source types and required drivers are listed in the README.
# The initial channel is optional, if hopping is not enabled it can be used
# to set the channel the interface listens on.

Falls ohne Verschlüsselung oder wep psk:
iwconfig, bzw iwpriv
Falls radius
xsupplicant
Falls WPA PSK oder WPA Radius
wpa_supplicant.
Also es gibt schon Unterschiede...
