Du meinst den MBR des USB-Sticks?

Hast Du das nachgeprüft? Versuche doch einfach mal den grub von CD oder
einem anderen Medium zu booten und Dir dann die tatsächlich vorliegende
Situation anzeigen zu lassen, also welche Geräte Dir das BIOS wie
serviert.
