Hab von 6.3 bis 8.0 keine Probleme beim Kompilieren von Mozilla, siehe:
http://mozilla.homelinux.org/

Die configure options sind aber eher konservativ gewählt, damit Mozilla 
auf einer default Installation lauffähig ist:

Wenn manchmal andere Fehlermeldungen kommen, dann kann es durchaus auch
