Oui, réinstall nvidia-glx, et le module qui va avec, les versions legacy 
c'est pour les vieilles cartes genre Riva...
C'est quoi comme carte (lspci) ?

Pour le reste je suis d'accord avec didier...

Tu cherches à faire quoi au juste ? si c'est pour installer xgl / compiz 
je peux approfondir un peu,
je l'ai installé avec succès sur 5 machines en etch équipés de carte 
nvidia (geforce2, geforce4, et 7800gtx).
C'est vraiment magnifique, je suis accro !
