TU as peut-être un paquet du genre "pcmcia-modules-2.4.16-686" ou
"alsa-modules-2.4.16-686" ou ... installé?
Fais un
dpkg -l '*-2.4.16-686' | egrep '^([ih]|.[iufh])'
ou
dpkg -l '*modules*' | egrep '^([ih]|.[iufh])'
ça devrait te le montrer.
