Update problem

Problem with updating sarge to etch:

/etc/apt/sources.list had
deb http://ftp.fi.debian.org/ stable main contrib non-free

Both synaptic and dselect did not see any etch packages.
dselect update did fetch Packages files not Packages.bz2 or
Packages.gz It found nothing to update, so I only assume it fetched
oldstable packages...

No cache I knew of. I checked anyway: ftp ftp.fi.debian.org
all seemed to be current same with konqueror http://ftp.fi.debian.org
So no cache!

I fixed problem by changing stable -> etch

Now back at home. This computer has still sarge and I don't want
update yet.

/etc/apt/sources.list has now
deb http://ftp.fi.debian.org/ stable main contrib non-free

dselect update gives:

Reading Package Lists... Done

Current stable has no 'Packages' so this makes sense, but why doesn't
it fetch packages.gz or bz2 files? Both of these computer were
recently updated.

Net connection for both is Elisa. If there is a cache it is only for
apt. Is this possible?

I have updated computers earlier using my own mirror, with no
problems.

Tested 3.rd computer. With connection provided by Nebula.
No problems. So it seems that Elisa has strange, broken cache.

Tested again with computer 2. above 404 errors again. So elisa seems
to be blocking Debian updates!

Anybody else using their lines?

To be certain I looked with browser
http://ftp.fi.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/binary-i386/Release

Archive: stable
Version: 4.0r0
Component: main
Origin: Debian
Label: Debian
Architecture: i386

/etc/apt/sources.list has
deb http://ftp.fi.debian.org/ stable main contrib non-free

dselect update gives above 404 errors again...
