bei mir funktioniert es. Ich vergleiche mal mit meiner Installation.

Meine /etc/auto.master sieht so aus:
/m/cdrom /etc/auto.cdrom --timeout 5
/m/floppy /etc/auto.floppy --timeout 1
/m/w95 /etc/auto.w95 --timeout 30
/m/tower /etc/auto.tower --timeout 30
/m/borek/tower /etc/auto.borek_tower --timeout 30
/m/borek/arthur /etc/auto.borek_arthur --timeout 30
Hmm, wenn ich so schaue, habe ich einen Doppelstrich vor dem timeout.
Vielleicht ist das wichtig. Und in der /etc/auto.cdrom zum
Beispiel steht folgendes:
cdrom -fstype=iso9660,ro,noauto,soft,user,suid
Vielleicht hilft Dir das irgendwie weiter. Ich habe meine
Installation mit Hilfe des autofs-HOWTO gemacht. Es steht auch im
