I broke apt-get
Now I've done it. I deleted some files from /var/state/apt/lists/
in the hopes of solving my earlier problem and now apt-get is
totally hosed :

Can this be fixed without having to reinstall Debian ?
(yes I know it was a bad idea to delete those files from /var/!!)
