Re: adding to PATH



I believe /etc/profile IS the place where the system-wide default PATH is
defined.  Are you sure it isn't being changed somewhere in .bashrc or
.bash_profile?
anyway, to add to it, you'd do this:
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/java/bin
