Yes.  With the exception of version 1.2.26, ssh2 cannot work with ssh1,
though, both versions will peacefully co-exist on your system, so you can
use $ ssh1 cdf.utoronto.ca to connect to your school and (if the symlinks
are right) $ ssh my.debian.host to connect to your other boxen.

The other option is to can ssh2 (and I would just because of the licensing
differences) and use ssh1.2.26.
