Here's the relevant lines from my printcap:

lp|Samba PostScript Printer:\

Here's my /usr/local/bin/smbprint:

#!/bin/sh
# uses smbclient to print a postscript file
smbclient //frigg/APPLE -c "print -"

I have share-level access control on that printer with no password (local
network).  You may have to change some things to implement security.
