ALSA w SB Live: Synth devices not enabled
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I have compiled ALSA 0.9beta for my kernel 2.4.20 and installed the resulting
deb without any real problems, but I can't seem to get synth enabled.
sndstat says: Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG (see also below), but
modules snd-emu10k1-synth and snd-emux-synth are installed.
How do I get synth enabled?
How can I play midi files (other than using Timidity/KMidi of course)?
I googled the list archives, but no luck there.
TIA
