locale? console graphics awry
on my console, i still get screwy 8th-bit graphic characters
(mutt's hierarchical indications for threading are screwy, and
dialog/whiptail borders are just as goofy). immediately after
running SVGATextMode all is well, but eventually a screen refresh
or what-have-you makes the system mis-choose its
alternate/graphics character set...
