One usage might be with writing extensions to things.
I can't seem to find it now, but guile stands for GNU Ubitiquis ...
Language for Extending (or something similar). Guile is a Scheme
interpreter (Scheme is a variant of Lisp). The gimp and gnucash use
it to allow for user scripting.
If you like lists, parenthesis, and recursion it can be useful for
you. You may even like it more than python, perl, C, etc, etc.
