Anyone using 2.2 (potato) with an AMD 486 DX4?
If so, are you able to successfully compile e.g. kernels with the
supplied gcc (2.95.2)? I'd be interested in positive or negative
replies to rule out potential causes of a problem I'm having.
I'm getting sig11's in cc1 -- a classic symptom of dubious hardware --
except I'm only getting them on my Debian 2.2 installation; if I
revert to my 2.1 installation (or, indeed, use 2.2 and mount /usr from
2.1) I can reliably compile a kernel. So I'm confused, but the current
best guess is some sort of obscure processor bug being triggered by
the new gcc. I'd be interested in more straightforward suggestions,
though :) Ta.
