Ah, no. PC CD-ROM drives normally don't work in Sparcs. Sparcs
excpect the CD-ROM to have 512 byte sectors. Mos PC CD-ROMs have 2048
byte sectors. You could probably pick up acheck Sparc CD-ROM from
somewhere though. Search the archives of debian-sparc for possible
sources (<URL:http://www.debian.org/List-Archives/>).

The distribution formerly known as UltaraLinux has been rolled into
RedHat 6.1. However, you don't want it anyway as it's for 64bit
SPARCS ans you don't have one. :) That's not to say you can't use
RedHat, of course. But then why post to a Debian list? :)
There should be ISO images for the necessary CDs on the Debian
mirrors. Serach the debian-sparc archives for information on this and
the location of the latest Debian SPARC boot-disks.

'boot cdrom' at the ok promt will make that happen (assuming you've
got the right sort of

That's what is supposed to happen, yes.
Tim> Is this too simplistic?
Nope.
I'd suggest you start here
<URL:http://www.debian.org/releases/slink/sparc/install>
and most of your questions should be answered.
Also you should probably subscribe to the debian-sparc mailing list
(<URL:http://www.debian.org/MailingLists/subscribe>) as the list to
which you psted is basicly dead.
