gcc rules file
Sometime ago you mentioned a rewrite of the gcc rules file. Although I
don't have the time now, I want to collect some ideas. What needs to
be done:
- when moving /usr/doc to /usr/share/doc, clean up the postinst files.
- introduce a gcc-base package, which holds /usr/share/doc stuff for
all binary packages.
- remove the gcc_dirs needed for multilibs.
- separate the rules file in some smaller chunks? or restructure it?
- add support for debian-mips and debian-ultrasparc
- add support for pgcc? pgcc is distributed as a patch to gcc-2.95, so
this is not a technical problem.
- honor the DEB_* variables when set in the environment.
- rework the patch system and submit it to dh_make and/or debhelper as
an example.
Your input is welcome.
