One is the output of a current texlive portable installation. One comes from a up to date debian testing.
I'm unable to reproduce the issue. As you did not provide a log file I can only guess that we have the same root cause as for #1020492: make sure that the local incarnations of the fonts are deleted. Hilmar -- sigfault
