Hi Klaus,

This sounds like a full file system during installation, which can lead to
various issues like this. I suggest to close the issue as "caused by full
file system".

Could be but I suspect apt/dpkg to take care of that and fail graceful.

The install script of a package fails, hence apt declares the whole package installation to be not successful. apt can't do much in this situation except trying the script of the later version in the hope a script bug was fixed in the new version. This was not the case, the script failed (probably) due to a full file system. This is not uncommon when doing TL upgrades.

So, what do you expect? Should apt delete some random files and start over? apt could try to do some random system checks like "df -h", show users the results, so they get an idea why the installation failed. However this is an wishlist bug for apt, not a serious bug for "tex-common".

Can we close the issue here?
