No.
That would defy the whole introduction of it.
It is not my problem to fix dpkg insufficiencies by allowing to
simply override author's wishes.
If you *want* to override \today, this has to be done explicitely.
Not all uses of \today *should* be overwritten. What about a document
stating
last compiled on \today
then you do not want to overide that one, because this is NOT the
author's intention.
