Hmmm, it seems that you do not have a papersize defined?

What does
	paperconf
say?

If eg it says 
	a4
then please edit
	/var/lib/dpkg/info/texlive-base.postinst
and add
	set -x
to the top.
THen run the dpkg-reconfigure again and send the output.
