thanks

libpng upstream has now indicated that pngsuite is free software (see
[1] and attachment), please document that in the copyright files.

I still recommend removing the embedded copies of libpng (and pngsuite),
asking your upstreams to also remove the embedded copies of libpng (and
pngsuite) and notifying the security team about the code copies.

We have revised libpng/contrib/pngsuite/README to include "modify"
among the things the licensee is allowed to do. It was always
Willem's intent to make them "free", and omitting "modify"
was a simple oversight.

The new license is checked in to the "devel" branch of
our GIT repo.

You are free to copy the new license to all earlier versions
of libpng/contrib/pngsuite. We will be updating the
license in libpng-1.5.2 and 1.4.6 (and the next 1.0.x
and 1.2.x if we have occasion to release those in the future).

I attempted to post a reply to the debian bug tracker
but it doesn't seem to be getting through.

Glenn
