I've looked through
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html, but
it doesn't provide clear recipe for our case. Do you propose to
execute the following in texlive-binaries.prerm?

  remove)
    update-alternatives --remove ...
    update-alternatives --remove ...
    ;;
  *)
    ;;
esac
