Package: tetex-base
Version: 2.0.2-5.1
Tags: patch

The attached patch splits off a separate texdoctk-data package from
tetex-base, leaving tetex-base free of xfree86 dependencies. I am sure
that this has been debated before, but I am of the opinion that tetex-base
ought not to pull in xlibs or perl-tk, both for sysadmin reasons (ability
to run TeX on a machine where X11 is not desired) and to allow xfree86 to
be built without pulling old xlibs into the build chroot. The patch adds
no new lintian/linda issues and fixes a couple of minor ones (unnecessary
debconf in preinst, error in a shell script installed as documentation).
A corresponding bug/patch is being filed against tetex-bin to split off
the texdoctk package referenced by texdoctk-data.

Thanks for considering this, and I apologize if I am beating a dead horse.

- Michael

Thanks for the patch and your work!

teTeX i obsolete for a while now, I'm closing your bug now. If you
think the same should be implemented for TeX Live, please file a new
bug.

Thanks again,
  Hilmar
