Package: tetex-bin
Version: 3.0-30
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/pdfetex
When running latex <filename.tex> I get
---
! LaTeX Error: File `article.cls' not found.
Type X to quit or <RETURN> to proceed,
or enter new name. (Default extension: cls)
---
(I was using it previously without problems. I selected tetex-bin
because when I asked for latex I got the following:
A package named 'latex' does not appear to be installed on your system;
however, 'tetex-bin' contains a file named '/usr/bin/pdfetex'. Do you
want to file your report on the package reportbug found
)
Thanks,
Rene

In your last email you wrote something about installation of texlive,
now it is tetex.
Some questions are really strange: Are you using lenny, or sid?
Why didn't you upgrade tetex? The lastest version of tetex is 2007-12
(in lenny) and -13 (in sid).

pdfetex is long since gone in texlive 2007, and only in the outdated
tetex 3.0 it is present.
But tetex 3.0 has been replaced in lenny since LONG TIME with texlive.
Please bring your system to an up2date state, otherwise bug hunting is
impossible, thanks.

HOW is this possible?????????????????????????????
tex-common 1.10 is ONLY in sid
tetex-base 3.0.dfsg.3-5 WAS in etch but it is even outdated in etch,
since there has been an update to 3.0.dfsg.3-5etch1.
I am closing this bug. If you have updated your system to a normal state
and the bug persists please reopen it or submit a new one.
Best wishes
Norbert
