I cannot reproduce this. Logging into a clean pbuilder 
	apt-get build-dep apt
and
	apt-get install jadetex
both succeed without any problems.

Could you please use aptitude as it will tell you what package is
conflicting? It might be that you have an obsolete package installed.
But I really don't understand how this could happen since we ship
tetex-* package as replacements, too.
