Hello,

I do not know a lot about the way latex fonts work, so I hope this bug-report is not totally redundant.

When using the utopia (or fourier) package I got error messages, that the utupia pfb files (e.g. putb8a.pfb) could not be found and should be placed to (path-to-texmf-dir)/fonts/type1/adobe/utopia.

A search for that files did not yield any results, so I installed the files manually from ctan to following directory:

$ ls /usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/type1/adobe/utopia
putb8a.pfb  putbi8a.pfb  putr8a.pfb  putri8a.pfb

After rehashing and updmapping everything worked fine, therefore, I suggest to include those files in the package.

Sincerely
Robert Ulbricht

These fonts had a non-free license back when texlive 2005 was released.
Meanwhile the license has been changed, is free, and the fonts are
included in texlive 2007 which is available in sid, so this problem only
exists in texlive 2005.

This is a bad idea. The right texmf tree for local additions is
TEXMFLOCAL, i.e. /usr/loca/share/texmf. Or, as you prefer, TEXMFHOME.
