Map or MixedMap?

Dear Folks,

I am writing a script to make available some fonts, like mathdesign and fourier
etc., that I downloaded and installed for LaTeX on a Debian-based Kubuntu Feisty
texlive-installation.

The <fontname.cfg> files in /etc/texmf/updmap.d have lines of the form

Map <fontname.map>

or

MixedMap <fontname.map>

Is one of these a superset of the other, so that one may use it universally for
all fonts if the font package does not specify which form to use?
