Thanks. So fp9.map didn't make it to the actaully used updmap.cfg.
Actually I should have spotted that earlier. The log you posted read:

Fri Oct 6 09:59:26 EEST 2006
updmap-sys: This is updmap-sys, version 1122009795-debian
updmap-sys: using transcript file `/var/lib/texmf/web2c/updmap-sys.log'

updmap is creating new map files using the following configuration:

  config file: `/etc/texmf/web2c/updmap.cfg'
                ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

That's the wrong file. The one that is generated from the files in
/etc/texmf/updmap.d/* is located in /var/lib/texmf/web2c. So if you move
the above file to some save place, call update-updmap && updmap-sys,
then your system should be fine. Of course, it would be interesting to
know where the file in /etc/texmf/web2c came from. Did you call
'updmap-sys --edit' or 'updmap-sys --syncwithtrees' at some time?
