This problem is known and fixed upstream in the 1.40 beta series of
pdftex, but it would be nice to have this small fix in etch (if
possible); see towards the bottom of the report, where it appears it
is simply a case of too-strict checking for the OS/2 table version in
line 1026 of writettf.c.
