        Severity "grave" is justified because the sudden change of write
permissions on the /var/cache/fonts directory makes the tetex system unusable
as soon as a new font description has to be generated.

        Adding people to the users group _manually_ is indeed a workaround. To
me the real bug is that either this should be done automatically, or, like I
said in the other message, people should be warned _big time_ that they're
gonna have to do it by hand.

        But still, I'm not opposed to this change ;-)
