Version: 1.0.7+20021025-8
Severity: important

Hello,

It seems that gsftopk now returns success when invoked on a TrueType font.
(I am not sure whether this is a recent change or anything.) This means
that mktexpk now processes TrueType fonts with gsftopk rather than ttf2pk,
because mktexpk only tries ttf2pk if gsftopk fails. Unfortunately,
gsftopk does not seem able to handle CJK fonts, which means that xdvi
(for example) now fail to handle TrueType CJK fonts.

A kluge that solves the problem for the time being for me is to change
line 136 in /usr/bin/mktexpk from

    case $ps_to_pk in

to

    ttf2pk -t -q $NAME >/dev/null 2>&1 || case $ps_to_pk in

Perhaps a better fix would be to try ttf2pk and hbf2gf before trying
$ps_to_pk ?

Thanks,
	Ken

I have submitted a bug report, anyway - then people can apply the patch
themselves, or if you happen to not be able to provide better packages,
someone else can step in.

So, now I can indeed process the file, and look at it.=20=20

It is rendered nicely in xdvi, and ttf2pk is called to succesfully
produce the glyphs, not gsftopk as in the original bug report. So this
seems to be fixed.

pdflatex in unstable (and thus in sarge) nicely includes the TTF fonts
in the pdf file.

With teTeX-3.0, there is a different bug (or it gets revealed by 3.0),
but in order to make the BTS easier to read, I'll submit a different one
for that.

Regards, Frank
