The bug is a missing dependency on tex-common (>= 0.4). The version
needed is in unstable (or on
deb http://people.debian.org/~frank/teTeX-3.0 sarge main
for the sarge users. It has been fixed in the repository, but not yet
uploaded (and I won't be able to do an upload before next week).
