leider auch hier nur die übliche Antwort:

No, sorry. It is upstream's job to monitor CTAN and keep the
distribution up-to-date, and to check that things do work together. We,
the Debian teTeX maintainers, have a hard enough job in maintaining
teTeX as it is, and cannot do this additional job. You know, it's not
just acronym.sty which is outdated, it is essentially the complete
package.

teTeX-3.0 is out (the architecture-all packages are in experimental, but
unusable with the architecture-any stuff which is stuck in NEW), but
won't make it into sarge (too much changes, too much packages
build-depending on us).

For etch, we are planning to support an additional TEXMF tree where
packages can place newer versions of files that exist in teTeX; but for
now you can only use TEXMFLOCAL or HOMETEXMF.

Regards, Frank
