Hello,

I'm using the tetex distribution bundled with debian sarge.

When trying to compile the following file with latex and produce a
PostScript file from the obtained dvi file, you will see that the \MALE
character becomes a black square instead of the black filled male symbol
(alike the \FEMALE one):

-----
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{marvosym}

\begin{document}
\MALE \FEMALE
\end{document}
-----

The error message from dvips is the following:
-----
Warning: module writet1 of dvips (file marvosym.pfb): character 130 is
mapped to .notdef
-----

If you replace the marvosym.pfb file by the one you can find on ctan
(eg. ftp://ftp.loria.fr/pub/ctan/fonts/psfonts/marvosym/marvosym.pfb),
all works fine again.

Best regards,

Mathieu Goutelle

   * Since /etc/texmf is a real TEXMF tree now, TeX input files are no
     longer treated as configuration files. Upon upgrade, unchanged files
     are removed, changed ones are moved to appropriate directories where
     they are found by kpathsea [frank]
   * Install files in TEXMFDIST, i.e. /usr/share/texmf-tetex, and depend on
     tex-common (>=0.12) [frank]
   * Install changelog.Debian in tetex-doc, too (closes: #338334)
   * Unset variables that might override texmf.cnf settings in postinst

   * Remove tetex-extra's format and log files when the package is removed,
