I needed version 3 for the new update-updmap and because this package
follows the TDS in use in teTeX 3 (but maybe the directory layout would
also work with tetex 2...). But now, update-updmap is shipped in
tex-common. Since tex-common conflicts with tetex-bin (<= 3.0-4) and
tetex-base (<= 3.0-3), depending on tex-common effectively forbids
tetex 2. lmodern depending on tex-common, tetex-bin, tetex-base would
have the same effect in the current situation, but maybe this can be
replaced by a simple dependency on tex-common (which would also tolerate
texlive), if the parallel discussion about dropping the tetex
dependencies is successful.
