No. That file /var/lib/texmf/dvips/config/psfonts.map should be found
by kpsewhich, as /var/lib/texmf/ be in the TEXMF tree. In the latest
versions of tetetx-bin we force that into texmf.cnf using sed. Yes,
that *is* an ugly hack.
