I think it's a matter of taste whether one uses if constructs or simply
OR'ed (||) lists, as I did.

It would make life easier, I think, if you could provide patches against
the latest CVS version of the file. It shouldn't cost too much bandwidth
to just check out the debian/ subdirectories of tetex-bin and
tetex-base, or you can get it via the ViewCVS web frontend.

If you'd had done this, you would have noticed that the bug is yet fixed
in CVS. The code is not better as the code proposed by you, and, as far
as I can see, not worse.

Any reason for changing again?
