From: Yann Dirson <ydirson@altern.org>

package: tetex-base
version: 1.0.2+20011202-3
severity: serious
Running the following command:
# /usr/bin/fmtutil --cnffile /etc/texmf/fmtutil.cnf --all
... finishes with:
This is a summary of all failed' messages:
tex -ini -fmt=latex -progname=latex latex.ini' failed
etex -ini -efmt=elatex -progname=elatex *elatex.ini' failed
pdftex -ini -fmt=pdftex -progname=pdftex pdftex.ini' failed
pdftex -ini -fmt=pdflatex -progname=pdflatex pdflatex.ini' failed
pdfetex -ini -efmt=pdfelatex -progname=pdfelatex *pdfelatex.ini' failed
omega -ini -fmt=omega -progname=omega omega.ini' failed
Unfortunately that prevents many tex-related packages to install cleanly.
The failed logs (see below) all mention they don't find 'frhyphex.tex'.
Searching for something similar, I find by chance:
# dpkg -S frhyph
tetex-base: /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/hyphen/frhyph.tex
Typo somewhere ?
# cat /var/lib/dpkg/info/tetex-base.list | xargs grep frhyphex 2>/dev/null
/usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/language.dat:%french frhyph.tex afrhyphex.tex
/etc/texmf/language.dat:french frhyph.tex frhyphex.tex
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/language.dat:french frhyph.tex frhyphex.tex
Hm. Commenting out frhyphex.tex in /etc/texmf/language.dat allows things to
finish smoothly.

No, the maintainer can as well, especially when the bug is no longer valid :)
