Bug#273084: pdftex.1.gz: --help has basic info that man page lacks

Which is why the first sentence of the manpage says:

Well, you _can_ give pdftex a filename, but you need not. You can pass
TeX commands directly to the program on the command line, or you can
work interactively. 

What wording would you suggest?
