Until we get the file that unfortunately wasn't attached (or didn't get
through), we cannot find out what is going on. We know, however, that it
is only a single format that fails, and mptopdf is not the most commonly
used. For more than 90 % of our users it it not necessary; when also
counting buildd's and programs using (pdf)LaTeX for their output, I'd
even say more thatn 98%.

On the other hand, we have yet decided for tetex-bin that failure to
generate some formats should not make the whole postinst fail. I just
had not ported this to tetex-base and tetex-extra.

I have now done this, and the effect will be that with the next version
of tetex-base the postinst will not fail if the format generation did
not work. This case is just what it was intended for: The vast majority
of the package's function is restored, and we can still investigate the
real error.

Once 2.0.2b-2 has hit the archives, you can upgrade your package and get
a (basically) working teTeX. Therefore I am lowering the severity of
this bug, now that the package is in Incoming.
